OKC Thunder will be without young trio against Dallas Mavericks

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced today that defensive star Lu Dort will be out for an unknown amount of time, as the second-year player enters the NBA’s concussion protocols. The OKC Thunder also saw star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander get sidelined for “A significant amount of time” with a right foot injury. The Thunder will have not seen Darius Bazley suit up in the second half of the season as he deals with a nagging shoulder injury.

The Thunder will take on the Dallas Mavericks in Oklahoma City on Monday, as the team continues their homestand, they will do so without a single starter from the opening night starting five. OKC started the year with a starting five that featured Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lu Dort, George Hill, Darius Bazley, and Al Horford. As the young trio goes down with an injury, George Hill gets shipped out to Philly, and Al Horford has been shut down, the starting lineup on Monday will look totally different.

The Dallas Mavericks, unlike to start the second half of the year, will have star guard Luka Doncic as well as Kristaps Porzingis in this game against the Thunder according to Dallas Morning News beat writer Brad Townsend.

Without Al Horford, Lu Dort, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Darius Bazley, Mike Muscala’s run of DNP-CD’s and now Ankle injury, Justin Jackson and Darius Miller falling out of the rotation, and the team buying out Austin Rivers making this team a roster spot short, to go with the uncertainty of if Tony Bradley will be active on Monday, who for sure will play for the Thunder?

Theo Maledon, Ty Jerome, Svi Mykhailiuk, Josh Hall, Kenrich Williams, Isaiah Roby, Moses Brown, and Aleksej Pokusevski. Tony Bradley might be able to play (update: Tony Bradley is available), but this could be a game where Mark Daigneault has to dip back into his bench and give minutes to Darius Miller and former-Mav Justin Jackson.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are 11.5 point underdogs, and I am taking the Thunder in this game, as well as Theo Maledon to lead the team in three-pointers made.

This story will be updated with quotes from Mark Daigneault pregame.
